Sculpturally Distanced (2020-2021)

Anderson Ranch Arts Center
Aspen, CO

An interactive outdoor public art exhibition, Sculpturally Distanced featured 17 sculptures by local, national, and internationally-acclaimed artists. The works, curated by Lissa Ballinger, were spread out across the idyllic five-acre campus of Anderson Ranch Arts Center–so that visitors could maintain their social distance while embracing the site-specific creations–and included two pieces from Aspen resident Crown’s CLOUDY series.

CLOUDY represents a portion of an original drawing, transformed into 3D  studies. The marks are direct, made while moving in time and space, connecting the intimacy of that experience to the sublime expanse of the horizon. The sculptures are fabricated out of shiny metal; the surrounding landscape, reflected on the metallic surface of these amorphous shapes, inspires viewers to pause, ponder, and locate themselves within their own here and now.
